How to Make Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce

How to Make It
Add ½ cup unsweetened ketchup*, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp coconut aminos, 1 tsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp chili powder, and a pinch of sea salt to a small saucepan*.
Whisk to combine.
Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
Taste and adjust vinegar, spices, or salt to preference**.
Let cool before storing.

Notes
Most store-bought BBQ sauces are loaded with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, and seed oils. This version uses unsweetened ketchup as a base for all the smoky flavor without the junk. Enjoy brushed on grilled chicken, ribs, burgers, or as a dipping sauce.
*For ketchup: use unsweetened ketchup brands like Primal Kitchen unsweetened ketchup.
**Flavor additions: For a smokier flavor, add a pinch of liquid smoke. For a little heat, add a dash of cayenne.
