How to Make Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce

How to make sugar-free BBQ sauce for weight loss using the Eat Shed Glow® method.

How to Make It

  1. Add ½ cup unsweetened ketchup*, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp coconut aminos, 1 tsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp chili powder, and a pinch of sea salt to a small saucepan*.

  2. Whisk to combine.

  3. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.

  4. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

  5. Taste and adjust vinegar, spices, or salt to preference**.

  6. Let cool before storing.

Notes

Most store-bought BBQ sauces are loaded with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, and seed oils. This version uses unsweetened ketchup as a base for all the smoky flavor without the junk. Enjoy brushed on grilled chicken, ribs, burgers, or as a dipping sauce.

*For ketchup: use unsweetened ketchup brands like Primal Kitchen unsweetened ketchup.

**Flavor additions: For a smokier flavor, add a pinch of liquid smoke. For a little heat, add a dash of cayenne.
